Marvelous Meal
Project Overview
Eco Food Recipe App Design
Time:Nov 9th - Dec 9th 2024

Approximately 1/3 of all food produced globally is wasted.
The most common food allergens include milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, and soybeans.
Approximately 30,000 to 50,000 people
in the US are hospitalized annually due to severe food allergic reactions.
Problem Identified
Cooking often requires many ingredients, making it easy to forget or overbuy.
Rarely used seasonings lead to waste.
Allergies require accommodating everyone’s needs.
Limited time makes quick meal ideas challenging.
My goal is to help people prepare every meal safely and conveniently, spend less by focusing on what’s needed, and reduce waste to make life more sustainable.
Questions:
Are you or your family members allergic to any specific foods?
Do you often shop for ingredients you don't have when planning to cook a dish?
Have you ever forgotten or accidentally repurchased certain items while grocery shopping?
Do you sometimes struggle with deciding what to cook for a meal?
Have you ever been so busy that you had very little time to cook but didn’t know what to make?
Survey Takeaways
Many users deal with dietary restrictions or allergies, making meal planning more complex and time-consuming.
Many users struggle with deciding what to cook, especially under time constraints
Many users express frustration over unused or expired ingredients, highlighting a strong desire to reduce waste.
In households with multiple allergies, meal preparation becomes a complex balancing act.
Target Customer
My target audience consists of individuals who are passionate about life, enjoy cooking despite having certain food allergies, and aspire to create better, more delicious meals. They also value reducing waste and making the most out of available resources.

Problem Solving
The app alerts users to ingredients that they or their family members are allergic to.
The app reminds users of seasonings they’ve recently purchased or already have to prevent duplicate purchases.
The app asks if users want to try the dish once or make it multiple times, then suggests the right ingredient quantities for the cart.
